[update] Aachen: Short summary of the third and fourth session

Short summary of the third and fourth session of the court case against the anarchist comrades from Barcelona accused of expropriating a branch of the Pax Bank, Catholic Church in Aachen.

The third session of the court case was centered around the (very technical) statement of a DNA expert from the LKA, who analyzed the samples found on some pieces of clothing and tools, and the methods used to determine their correspondence with the samples taken (illegally, as the defense lawyer argued) from the accused comrades in a fake breathalyzer test and a can of beer respectively. The court and the lawyers have asked the expert various questions, and he has “admitted” that it is not presently possible to determine how long a sample of DNA has been on an object and that the “quality” of the sample varies depending on the type of material (rough or smooth metal, clothes, porous material, etc.) or on the hygienic circumstances, among other things. The images of the three cameras in the basement of the bank (where the safe is) were also shown without any further comments.

The fourth session heard the testimonies of the two workers of the bank who had the keys to the safe and went to the basement with two bank robbers. The first of them remembered a woman with a silver wig and another three people, all of them between 20 and 30 years old. He did not recognize the objects the judge showed him in the photos. At the time, this witness was requested by the police to make a facial composite of a man, and has confirmed that this is the mental image he remembers of the man that went to the safe with him. He also acknowledged that he saw the photographs of our comrades that were published in the local press. He did not recognize any of the people in the room as the perpetrators

The second witness (assistant manager of the branch) remembered three or four people. A woman with a black or dark brown wig and with a gun. As to the photographs that the judge showed him, he suggested that the bag and the wig could correspond to those he remembers. The police did not ask him to make a facial composite nor showed him any video. He also did not recognize anyone in the room. After every witness statement the three videos were shown again, to see if any of the witnesses would remember something else, which was not the case.

Once again the accused could count on the support of the comrades that were present in the room to show them our solidarity. The next session will take place on Thursday 16 February at 09.00.
